JONESBORO, GA – Effective immediately, Clayton County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) will limit service to walk-in customers while the county completes necessary improvements to the building, located at 877 Battlecreek Road, Jonesboro, Georgia.

The DFCS office is limiting service for walk-in clients out of an abundance of caution following the detection of mold in some areas of the building late Thursday. Plans to remove the mold are underway, and staff will serve customers in areas that have been deemed safe.

Customers can continue to go to the Battlecreek Road location to pick up and drop off applications and documents necessary for verifying eligibility for economic assistance through the SNAP (Food Stamps), Medicaid, TANF and Child Care programs. Staff will also continue to be available to address immediate child welfare needs.

In-person interviews for economic assistance programs will be rescheduled or conducted over the phone. Customers with existing appointments for an in-person interview will be contacted by a DFCS representative to notify them of the rescheduled date.

For information on specific case issues for economic assistance or child welfare during normal business hours, customers may continue to call Clayton County DFCS at (770) 473-2300 and leave a message. Messages will be forwarded to a case manager and returned within 24 hours.

Individuals should continue to report concerns of child abuse or neglect by calling 1-855-GA-CHILD (1-855-422-4453). The line is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.

Ongoing updates will be posted at www.dfcs.ga.gov.
