Division of Family & Children Services kicks off 2017 "Blueprint for Change" engagement tour

April 21, 2017

ATLANTA – In an effort to continue to engage the public on Georgia’s family and child services system, Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) Director Bobby Cagle is beginning his third annual tour of the state to meet with stakeholders and the public.

Cagle’s “Blueprint for Change” roadshow events are part of a three-pronged approach to improve agency services, develop agency staff and involve communities in efforts to strengthen Georgia’s child welfare and economic assistance programs.

While the first two years were focused on gathering input from agency staff and stakeholders across the state to build consensus around improving agency services, the next two years will be more community focused. The events will seek to engage all levels of the community on local issues.

During each event, Cagle and other agency leaders request input from local law enforcement, judges, foster parents, foster youth, legislators, private providers, media partners, the interfaith community, DFCS staff and the public.

The roadshow also includes a “town hall” style meeting hosted by Cagle and a panel of representatives from the local community. The focus of each town hall meeting will vary by location based on the issues facing that region. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to provide feedback and solutions.

The 2017 roadshow tour will begin in Statesboro on April 25th and will continue with monthly stops in communities around the state through November. Dates and locations are as follows:

  • April 25-28th: Region 12 - Statesboro, GA
