Georgia Gateway

Georgia Gateway is an eligibility determination system for a number of social benefit programs (Health Coverage, Child Care and Parent Services, Food Stamps (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Women, Infants and Children (WIC). See https://gateway.ga.gov/ to access more information and to apply for benefits.

Georgia’s CPS Centralized Intake Communication Center takes reports 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. If you have an immediate emergency, please call 911 or your local police department.

Child Abuse Registry

Anyone can request a free Self-Check by going to any Georgia Division of Family & Children Services office (https://dfcs.georgia.gov/locations) they will be required to present government issued identification: State ID, Military ID, Driver’s License or Passport. Results will be emailed to the requester within 10 business days. This is the only way under GA law to request a self-check.

Out of State CPS Inquiries

A Child Protective Service (CPS) Screening Request may be submitted by the following:

  1. Private or International Adoption Agency:
    If an adoption petition has been filed with superior court:   Submit the purpose of request on agency letterhead, and a copy of the court order which states there is a pending adoption

  2. Law Enforcement or CPS Investigators:
    Submit the purpose of request on agency letterhead, along with a signed release of information for each individual to be screened
