NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING DFCS State Plan for Community Services Block Grant
The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) will hold a virtual public hearing in June. The purpose of this upcoming meeting is to formally review the FY 2022 State Plan for the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG).
CSBG Live Session:
10 a.m.-12 p.m., June 15, 2021
The CSBG program supports activities that help eligible low-income Georgians to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty in communities. A range of services are made available to assist participants with obtaining education, training, employment, transportation, proper nutrition, housing and referrals to partnering agencies.
The plan outlines eligibility requirements and activities to be implemented for the targeted population. Federal funds have been allocated for these programs and copies of the draft plan will be available for review on the DFCS website, Area Agencies on Aging, and Community Action Agencies throughout the state.
Funding amounts for FY 2022 will be released at the time of the proposed hearings. Comments regarding the plan can be sent to: Division of Family and Children Services, Office of Family Independence, Community Services Block Grant Program, 2 Peachtree St. NW, Suite 21-276, Atlanta, GA 30303.
Comments must be received by July 15, 2021. Those who are unable to attend the hearing but wish to make oral comments on the plan may call the CSBG Program at 404-657-3426.

DFCS administers the Georgia Food Stamp Program (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), a federally funded program that provides monthly benefits to low-income households to help pay for the cost of food. DFCS is responsible for issuance of SNAP, Medicaid and TANF assistance to low-income families, assistance for out-of-work parents to help them get back on their feet as well as multiple support services and programs to help families in need.
