IMPACT Continuum of Services
IMPACT
DFCS developed IMPACT pre-service training in 2004. IMPACT is an acronym which stands for Initial Interest, Mutual Selection, Pre-Service Training, Assessment, Continuing Development and Teamwork.
In 2009 DFCS began a purposeful journey of implementing a Family Centered Practice Model (FCPM) in its service to children and families. A key component of the FCPM is Partnership Parenting. Partnership Parenting supports shared-parenting relationships between birth and foster parents.
Building on the framework of first IMPACT curriculum, an addendum which includes a family centered focus is under development. The changes will support the development of families in the values of family-centered practice as well as the tenants of the shared parenting model.
