Georgia DFCS Honors Foster Families Virtually This May
ATLANTA — Each May National Foster Care Month honors the families and individuals who open their home to children in need. The Georgia Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) uses this opportunity to formally recognize each and every foster family who provides a safe and happy home for vulnerable children across Georgia. Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, DFCS will move forward with plans to honor foster families by launching digital initiatives to celebrate their efforts.
How DFCS is celebrating National Foster Care Month online:
- We will celebrate Wear Blue Day on Tuesday, May 5th to build awareness about fostering.
- Local celebrities will share videos expressing their appreciation for foster parents
- Custom posts for 23 of winners for annual Foster Caregivers of the Year Award winners
- Useful information about fostering in Georgia and tips for getting involved on all social media platforms
Georgia’s foster parents are heroes and a new, commemorative video will explain why. Each of the 23 Foster Caregivers of the Year Award winners will be acknowledged in a short video highlighting their unique contribution to Georgia’s foster care system.
Follow @GADFCS on all social media to join the celebration alone while we remain #AloneTogether. Share your pictures, posts and appreciation for foster caregivers across Georgia this May and all year long.
