Food Commodity Programs

Food commodity programs provide nutritious food to low-income citizens. These programs are federally-funded nutrition assistance programs of the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) agency. A variety of food products are available and include foods such as nonfat dry, fluid milk, juice, dry beans, poultry, canned meats, canned fruits, and canned vegetables. Occasionally, fresh fruits, vegetable and frozen meats are available and may be program specific.

The state of Georgia administers two of the many commodity food programs. They are as follows:

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a federally funded food program, operated by the state of Georgia.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federally funded food program, operated by the state of Georgia.
